Dollar Rent A Car was founded in 1965 in Los Angeles , where its executive offices remained until August 1994 when Dollar relocated its world car rental headquarters to Tulsa , Oklahoma .

Today, Dollar Rent A Car has more then 260 suburban and on-airport rental car locations at all major airports throughout the United States .

In April 1999, Dollar signed a reservations agreement with Sixt, bringing the total of Dollar and Sixt locations to nearly 2,000 with a rental car fleet of more than 188,000 vehicles and serving more than 50 countries (effective March 1, 2000 ).

In the United States , Dollar offers a quality line-up of award-winning Daimler Chrysler vehicles, including the Chrysler Concorde, LHS and the Sebring convertible; the Dodge Neon, Stratus and Intrepid; Dodge Caravan minivans; and the Jeep® Cherokee.
